Donations will be accepted at Elon Park (near the rest rooms), Manchester Meadows (near the concession stands) & Ramblewood Soccer Complex (restrooms near fields 2 & 11). DeservingSoles is a non-profit organization with a goal of providing gently used shoes to Southern African areas in need.
Information About DeservingSoles!
Children in remote villages of South Africa walk barefoot many miles to and from school every day. We hope to make that journey a little easier for them.
We gather gently used shoes of all types and sizes. Most adults in these villages, volunteer teachers, and older teens are also in need. (High heel ladies shoes are probably the only shoes they would not get much use out of!!)...but we are thrilled to receive any other types of footwear from slippers, to sneakers, boots, to sandals and everything in-between!
We encourage sending pictures and letters to accompany your shoes! This makes it much more personal for those receiving them and could also result in overseas friendships or “pen-pals” for our children.
The fact that people here in America (a place these African children only dream of) are making an effort to reach out and connect with them in their remote African villages makes an enormous difference in their lives.
Being a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, please feel free to place a few quarters or even a few dollars in your donated shoes to assist with shipping costs. Every bit helps and any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Be instrumental in bringing smiles to these children's (and adult's) faces, promoting their self confidence, and of course helping prevent injury in their daily activities!
Tell friends and family about DeservingSoles! Ask a business or office associate to donate his/her shoes! Help spread the word! Your shoes will remind these South African children and caregivers that they are not forgotten and do matter in our world!
So, it’s simple... Collect any shoes that no longer fit or have gone out of fashion, but have some miles left in them, and get them to a collection site. We’ll do the rest!
